On Wednesday it rained all day here in Southern California so I took my ex and did a little mudding. (sorry no pictures) I came home and washed all the mud off including the engine. Thursday morning i wake up and go out to get in my truck and i hear this high pitch whine coming from the front of the engine. I took it to Ford on Friday and

Cause:
M REPLACE WATER PUMP AND SERPENTINE BELT
330 wesp
1 JK6*856*A V-BELT
1 6L2Z*8509*AA PULLEY - WATER PUMP

So here is my question is this normal, did Ford just replace parts that were fine? it was covered under warranty so i all i paid was a $100 deductible. Could this damage have been caused by the mud or me rinsing the engine off?
Current mileage is 38,500

Hey Essex 4x4

So, why did you have to pay a deductable if it is warranty work? Or is it under lease? But if it under warranty let them replace it all. 3year /75,000 mile warranty is base.

I argued with the Service manager for half an hour about the deductable apparently when having repairs done under warranty you have a deductable to pay here in California. for me it was $100.00. The deductable is baised on which warranty you go with, there is different types of warrantys you can get, there is a warranty that has a $0.00 deductable however i wasnt told about this upon the initial purchase of my Explorer.

Oh and they did replace every broken part, the noise is totaly gone.

I own it outright, well not totaly but its not under a lease, i still ow a bit of $$$ on it.

bump

anyone have any ideas on this?

Bump

Is it on the passenger firewall behind the dash? If so, there is a recall for this, bump. It is the a/c system. Had the recall done on mine a while back and all is well.

no the water pump is on the front of the engine right behind the radiator. i assume they would have told me if there was a recall since i took it into a ford dealer for the reparis.
