Well, on my way from work last night, my waterpump died.

Figures, I just flushed the cooling system a few weeks ago and added some fresh antifreeze.....arguhh!!!

Looks like the doings of Murphy.

So here's the question, Are aftermarket water pumps as good as OEM?

Aftermarket new=$60
Ford new=$160

Figure while I am there I will change some hoses too.

Did it start to leak by the seal or weep hole?? Same thing happened to me with my 91. I talked to my mechanic, and he says he sees this all the time after a collant flush. Flushing can dislodge scale that is covering the seal, causing the leak.

No, no leaks out the peep hole....I think that I cought it before it was a catastrophic failure, it didn't have that much play in the shaft. At first I thought it was a lifter rap, but I removed the belt to rule out any accessories.
It only made noise on a quick WOT.
