Weird Heating Issue

My son drives a 98 Explorer Sport and reported to me that he started to notice yesterday that he gets good heat while the car is moving, but whenever he comes to a stop, the air temp cools off. Once he begins driving again, it comes back up to temp. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Just had similar issue with stepdaughter's Maxima. Was very low on coolant; nipple on radiator for overflow tube had broken off and coolent was escaping. Just refilling w coolant fixed heating issue, but I had to replace radiator as there was no way to repair the nipple.

Check coolant level

Check for leaks if it's low
