Hey guys, I have a question about an annoying noise I have getting from my 02 Explorer V8 4x4. I have done quite a few mods to it, but nothing to the steering or suspension, so I am kind of confused on what is happening. Ok here it is.
When I am on the highway doing about 80-90 for an extended period of time, after getting off an going at a slower mph I get this little rumble noise like my tires are rubbing. For instance, if I just got off the highway and was at a stop sign, and I wanted to go right or left, as soon as I give it a little gas, I get this rubbing sound when the wheel is turned right or left, but it goes away when I a driving straight.
If I am already in motion and turn the wheel right or left, I don't getting the rubbing sound, but as soon as I stop and the the wheel right or left and proceed to move forward slowly, I get that rubbing sound. It sounds and feels as if it coming from the rear, so I checked back there and didn't see the tire rubbing on anything.
I pulled into my lot and cranked the wheel completely left and moved slowly with my head out of the window to see if I can see something, and I noticed that it is coming from something in the rear.
This is more of an annoyance than anything. I don't think anything is seriously wrong, but I want to catch the issue before it becomes a problem. Again, it does not make this sound if I am already in motion turning the wheel right or left, but really only comes about in driving continuosly and coming to a stop and proceeding to move forward the the wheel right or left.
I have 63,000 miles if that helps and also have 22's. If I did it with my 22's I really barely even noticed it, but I can hear and feel the little rumble with my stocks.
I really need some help, does anyone know what it could possible be? Maybe I need a lube job on my axles or something? Please let me know, thanks for your time!
