okay so i plugged in my block heater , it has been warm , but now very cold,, about -30 c, ,
funny thing is, when plugged in the block heater makes a kind of humming noise,, not the usual bubbling sound,, it hums,, this is a first for me,,

anybody else ever hear such a thing,??? is this a first ??
i need to fix this i guess,

that is kinda strange. normally they sound like a tea kettle. guess you'll find out in the morning (yikes).
 






it still seems to be working,, but i can't figure out the noise,,,
 






on the south west side of them rocky mountains we don't need block heaters :p: :can:
 






Well, the heating element itself could be making the humming noise... kind of like a cheap electric stove if you've ever used one of those. As long as it works, i guess it's still good. Just make sure it's fuzed...just in case.

ya, because they shut the whole city down when there is a milimeter of snow on the roads so starting in the morning is not an issue :p:

I heard that when it was -15 in Van last month that many people lost rads and other, more expensive pieces.

DAM! come to winnipeg and survive 12 inches of snow, and temps reaching -50 with the wind! we don't call it winterpeg for no reason.

i got a new one,, just have to change it now,, it works, but what is making it hum, that is the issue,, maybe i just take it out and clean it, and reinstall , than return the new one,
will keep everybody posted,,

I know. Been there, done that (and the floods too). Calgary is bad enough. We feel for you guys this year.
