Weird Whine Above 60mph

My 03 v6 has a odd whine at higher speeds. Its very high pitched and only occurs past 60mph on the highway and if I let off the gas, ever so slightly, it literally fades away. It wont start again after for about 3-5 minutes. Its hard to locate the sound. I had my wife drive and i literally crawled all over the inside trying to localize it, but it seems to be everywhere! Ever heard of this before? I was thinking i might need a priest... Thanks

Just do a search for "whine" and you will see what the issue is. The sound is coming from your rear diff, and it's because you have a worn differential clutch pack, ring and pinion. There is a Ford TSB on it, as well as numerous posts about this.
