2001 explorer sport
whats up guys figure id say hello to everyone over here. im new to this forum but frequent many other forums. this 2001 explorer sport has been my daily for about 8 months, i got it when i started engine build numero uno on my sti. its been in my family for about 4-5 years and hasnt been to bad to me. i had to change out the starter ps pump, belts and waterpump. i have a problem leaving any vehicle of mine stock. so finally i bit the bullet and decided to make it so i can have a lil more fun with her. i just threw on some rear lift shackles and did the torsion twist today sadly i dont have a picture yet. this is how she looked yesturday

tomorrow i will be throwing on these 245/75r16 goodyears on and i have a set of spacers lying around that i may throw on. but ill be sure to post some pics when shes got her new rubbers on http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab46/ajmonteiro/63b20157.jpg
as far as future plans go. im not trying to put to big of a tire or lift it to the moon because this is supposed to be my sensible vehicle. but i would like to get a safari rack and mount a couple lights to it. maybe tint the windows

raised her up a lil bit and put on the tires today. top center of the wheel well im at 34.5 inches in the rear and a hair over 34 inches in the front, so i think ill bring the front up another half inch or so to compensate for my fat ass. i also have about 200 pounds of tires and tools in the back so hopefully itll raise the rear up another 1/4 inch when shes empty.

raised up the front even more so its just under 35 inches in the front, and back now that theres nothing in the trunk with just under half a tank. took her out to test the new tires and lift and was very surprised at how well she did. hers a few pics of how she sits now and from today. is it weird that even after the torsion twist i dont need an alignment???

If it is the criteria, just because it tracks straight doesn't mean you don't need one... Besides that, you've changed your camber after the TT- I'd get an alignment so you don't chew up your tires... A couple of degrees may not be discernible to the naked eye, where the machine picks it up.

Nice Sport!

yea i def notice my camber but from always having a lowered cambered out car for so many years i got used to it haha. but i will get this aligned within the month, as soon as i do the ball joint which is starting to look worn. i just bought a safari rack that should be in friday. ill throw a couple lights on the rack and im trying to hunt down a similar tread tire for a spare eventually

Nice...

Check out MountaineerGreen's writeup for balljoints, super easy.

ill check that out, thanks! just put on some spacers on the rear, nothing crazy just wanted to have them as flush as the front are, and im happy with it thus far. took her back out to the trails today before i headed into work

I'm a little confused.

In your second post, after the tires and lift you said your fenderwells were around 40inches, but in your third post you said the front was 35inches?

sorry fixed it was supposed to say 34. no way ill have this thing close to 40 unless its on a jack stands lol

Gotcha, b/c I was going to say that thing looks pretty short at 40in when the fenderwells on my 3rd gen are at 37" lol

safari basket and cargo net came in today now i need a couple lights to mount on it
