Recently i changed over from an auto to a manual and i didn't change the computer. It's been fine since i've done it about a month now, except for a slight flat spot at certain RPM's in each gear. I know that the computers are different and ford wants $283 plus a $100 core charge for the manual one. Now, i'm going to call a ford junk yard over here and ask them about a computer but what do i ask for. Do you think that they'd have a 95-97 explorer with a 5 speed? Are they very common? I know they have a bunch of explorers and rangers, would one out of a ranger work? Wonder what year, i'm thinking about a 98? Let me know what you think!

Happy trailes!

Get one from the same year as your truck... If you dont it might work worse or not at all. There are 97s out there will manual 5-speeds. See if they will trade you computers. One from a Ranger would work but it would need to have same motor that is in your Explorer
