Hello

I want to recharge my AC system, but I don't know were my low charge port is. Is it the one with the big can under it or the one near the radiator?

Thanks

Big can.

My compressor doesn't turn on right now since there is no gas in it.

I have a "Measure and Charge" can should the compressor be running before I recharge it?

It's not coming on because there is a low limit switch. Once you start putting in the gas the switch will close letting the compressor kick on. I may take awhile.

You would have to jump the switch while refilling it if it's completely evacuated. Before doing any of this, replace the orifice tube, see if it holds vacuum, then refill it with a manifold gauge set connected. Add oil first before adding freon. Thanks for your reply, Should I change the orifice tube since there is most likely a leak in it?

Replace the tube. See if the system is capable of holding vacuum. If it can't, then you have to see where the leak is located before adding freon to the system. It will only leak out. Moisture could set in if the lines were completely left open for a few days.

Thanks, can you also tell me how I can jump the compressor? Whats the safe amount of time that it can be on without oil before it fries?

It prevents the compressor from cycling while recharging.

Today I tried to put in some freeon, the pressure went up really fast, and the compressor stayed off, in order to make this work, should the compressor be running while I do the recharge? if yes how can jump the compressor so it turns on?

First of all, you have to locate the compressor cycling switch. It is located on the top of the accumulator. It has a 2 prong plug. Place a jumper wire across its contacts. Turn on the A/C, and see if the clutch engages. This should be performed while the engine is running.

Thank you very much for all the info you gave me , I'll try this tomorrow and see how it goes.

The PSI goes high when the compressor is off and when its on it goes low, Should I set it to the PSI when the compressor is on or off?
