'94/'97 XLT
whats up everybody? ive had a 94 xlt for 4 years, and have loved it until recently. ive done most of my own work on my vehicles until it gets to computer assisted repairs. after a process of elimination i had determined id blown a cylinder. so i bought a 97 xlt. it ran great until i touched it. i replaced the fuel filter cuz the old one was rusted pretty bad. pulled a plug, it looked fine so i put it back in( n yes put plug wire back on). the only other thing i touched besides cleaning the interior was the battery. which i simply disconnected to remove the cover and see what kind of shape it was in. now the truck runs exactly like the other one.

they're both almost miss-firing except they done really do so at idle. the engine rpm jumps up n down from @ 700-1100, not franticly. just slow n repetative. when driving they bog out n miss. n shake when in o/d. the severity varies especially when trying to go up a good grade.

like i said thru the elimination, i figured my engine was bad on the 94. now i think it may be some retarded sensor or something im simply missing. anybody have any similar problems? any recommendations for parts b4 im forced to have somebody fiddle with a diagnostic!

welcome

bad coil pack was the cause of the problems. it was jumping spark to the mounting bolt in the passenger rear side of it.
i wana change my tranny filter n gasket but it looks to like i need to either drop the one cat section or the front driveshaft. is that necessary?
