This one's really got me by the short & curly's. Is there some kind of trick that I dont know about when it comes to installing an aftermarket radio in a 1992 xlt 4 door Explorer? I didnt have a wireing diagram of the 8 speaker wires I pulled out of that small 8 conductor plug and just figuered I would hunt around for all the channels by hooking up various speaker leads until I ID'd the 4 channels but I cant get any sound out of any of the speakers to ID them. It made me think the speakers were bad so I pulled off a door panel and hooked a speaker up and I get sound. Its almost like the 8 wires that I pulled out of the square plastic connector dont even go to the speakers. Any ideas??

Thank You,
scott

You probably have a stock amp in the rear hatch.. It powers the speakers.

Yep, sure is. Is there any work around for this situation or should I just pull new wires to the 4 doors?

Thank Yoy,

scott

There is a amp bypass cable sold for this

I hope he has solved his problem by now...this thread is over 2 years old... :D
