Okay, so I tried to finally wire up my overhead console today and got everything figured out I think. Had to cut the plug because I didn't have a harness, but I did mark everything correctly. So I have everything wired and my lights work but that's it!!!! NO DISPLAY!! Any ideas?

did you happen to press the mode button when you started up the ex? if might have been in the display off mode.

other than that, the only thing i can think of is to take it down and put the ground and hook the 7.5 amp wire to test and make sure it was working, if you hadn't already.

well the dude I bought it from said he tested everything and made sure it was working.... but you never know. I hooked up the 7.5amp wire to fuse 10, I read that in one of the posts and then I have the ground hooked up. I just don't know, don't wanna work on it anymore tonight really. I'd like to get it going before I go home thurs, but I doubt that'll happen. BTW, I don't have the temp sensor hooked up yet, does that matter?

Okay, I temp. wired the power to the cig lighter and it does work!!! But now my question is this: where is the best place to hook up the power to? I wanna just tap into something under the dash. Any wire color choices best? Thanks.

sorry it took so long. but i hooked up the power wire to the #10 fuse and ground to the dome light. i did have the temp sensor hooked up but i dont think it would be nessecary. the map light wire was hooked up to the green/orange wire for the dome light.

if you want hook it up to something under the dash make sure it is a keyed power source and also put a fuse inline just in case.

i also have an overhead console in my ranger but that one cuts in and out once in a blue moon and i have it hooked up the same way as in the explorer.

WHAT AMPERAGE OF A FUSE IS TO BE USED?

Haven't got a chance to finish it up w/easter and everything. But I'll hopefully get to it by the end of next week.

I believe 7.5 amp is the going rate.

yes 7.5 amp fuse is the one.
