I have a set of Michelin LTX M/S on it now and they are good tires. They will need to be replaced in the next six months or so. Anyone have any suggestions? I do not want a real aggressive tire I am more concerned with having a good ride on pavement and with them being quiet.

keep with what you have. most michelins are highway tires and last around 45+k miles...

i have bridgestone dueler h/l alenza's and they're quiet and warrantied for 65,000 miles

I removed a newer set of Bridgestone duelers last year and installed the Michelin LTX M/S for their superior traction in all conditions and longevity. I also installed the same ones on my Jeep.

Check www.TireRack.com for all tire ratings and comments.

I'd stick with what you have. We have Firestone Destination LEs on ours now and they are wearing quickly.

I just had a set of Michelin LTX M/S put on my X last week and took it on a small trip. OMG what a difference. I had the stock BFG Roughterrain's and they were awful tires, loud and rode like crap!!! These new tires are Night & Day difference. A very smooth ride and quiet!! Get another set and you'll have no problems.

I've always loved the Michelin Cross Terrains. I got them on my 2000 after the Firestone fiasco, and haven't used anything else since. My 04 came stock with them, and they're quiet, with a good ride.

I looked on Michelin's website and they recommend either the LTX or the Cross Terrain for my Explorer. I the Cross Terrain might be the better choice for me. We do not get much snow where I live and the only off-roading I do is in the sand on the beach where an aggressive tread pattern does not help you.

I went with the same as came with my truck--BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A. I have had no problems with them and the price was right (paid $360 for the set, $25 for mounting and balancing). Plus, the original tires still had a decent amount of tread left at almost 85,000 miles--just starting to look old. Probably not as good as Michelin, but they are still quiet on the road and I haven't had any traction problems (on the road).

I've had BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A for 3 months now and no complaints. As good in the snow as the Cross Terrains

I have the Firestone Destination LE's and havne't had the quick wear issues others mention. I got them around 40k miles and I'm getting near 97k and still have at least a few more months with them, if not a little longer. I think mine came with the Wranglers or something like that, and I noticed a huge improvement in traction even in dry conditions, etc. I'll likely go with another set when the time comes unless there's something else rated just as high on tirerack.com or similar site.

Id go with another set of what you have I had the a/t version and they are definitly the best all around tires I've had.

I had the Michelin Cross terrains and they were great, I switched to the bridgestone Dueler AT REVOs, and Love them even more, but you cant go wrong with the MIchelins!

i have michelin LTX M/S almost no tread on them and yesterday i went a little bit offroading and after a few minutes i stuck pretty bad in the middle of nowhere.i just took out pressure from the tires and it came out right away. those tires are great.

Nitto Terra Grapplers!!!

I have the original Michelin Cross Terrains on my 02 XLS and 60,000 mile later I am looking to replace them this spring. They are worth every penny you could pay for them on this vehicle. They are great and I will be getting another set except I think I'm gonna go to P255-70 16's this time around.

After looking at ratings on tirerack.com I think I'm going with Pirelli ATRs for my next set.
