No body style changes, just year, colors, features, heated steering wheel auto high beam, lane veering, price. The cosmetic change will be on the 2015 or 16 model. Like head light and tail lights mainly for what i get from my dealer who is aways in detroit.

As far as body style goes, I believe they are both the same. It doesn't look like the body style on any of the 2011 - 2014 models has changed. Looking at my 2011 brochure, it looks like the rearview camera was not available on the 2011 XLT but if you are buying a used vehicle then you can't pick and chose what options you want added. Keep in mind that Ford's navigation package is a factory installed system and cannot be added after the fact.
Although my 2011 Limited has been great, the 2011's were more prone to various issues since it was the first year of the 'redesign'. That is not to say that the 2013 has been trouble free.
You can go to this link to se the TSB's (Technical Services Bulletins) on the 2011 - 2012 models. The only one I had to do was the 'random windshield wipe' TSB.
Good luck.

The heated steering wheel and lane keeping features are not available on the XLT. That is the model he is looking at. I may be mistaken but did those features not just become available on only the 2014 Limited?

Just took delivery on my 2014 XLT in the new sunset color. So far, totally happy. Everything works as it is supposed to. Especially the navigation.
I traded off my 2011 XLT with 54000 miles on it. It was a dud from the beginning. It was back to the dealer 18 times for different issues ! But what can you expect from a new model built in the first week of production. Should have known better.
Although it was troublesome to come back for various issues, the dealers were all helpful with no question of not fixing it. Ford corporate even gave me an extended warranty on the whole car for no added cost. So Ford is trying to do better. I have faith as this is my 14th new one. Had 2 Chrysler products, an 86 Grand Caravan which I couldn't keep the front brakes working and a 68 Dodge Coronet that wobbled down the street. I get tired of people lambasting Ford over mostly little things. Hey, it is a complicated piece of machinery. Maybe most people don't remember spark plug changes every 10,000 miles and engines that would never go the distance that they do now.
The new Explorer is a beautiful Suv that GMC and Chrysler could only wish that their vehicles were engineered as well.
Also, my 2011 XLT did have a rear view camera on it.
