What exactly do I need to lubricate everytime I do oil change? Can anyone give a list? Also what kind of lubricant do I need to use?

Thanks always!

I think that the shop changed ball joints, sway bar link, stud, Caster Adjusting Kit (???). Do these apply?

Further question, shops normally advertise their service and 'oil change and lube'. If there is nothing to lube, they just advertise the service falsely?

I now would like to start change oil by myselves and I need to know what I need to do.

THanks!

They lubricate if there are parts to lubricate. But my guess is a lot of the time they change the oil and get you out of the shop as fast as possible. The ball joints are the only thing that may need greased. If they are greaseable they will have a little nipple on the end like in this picture

I will check the truck tomorrow. THanks!

I get a can of that spray white lithium grease and lube anything that moves like door hinges, door latches, hood release mechanism and hood hinges I spray the rust on the bottom inside edges of the doors, metal brake lines, etc. - good stuff! The "lube" oil, and filter refers to parts with a grease fitting [see picture in post above] like replacement steering parts or u-joints and you'll need a grease gun for that. Changing your own oil is a good way to stay on top of things. If you use good oil and keep it full and clean, your chances of having engine trouble will be greatly reduced.

If it has a fitting, I lube it. I also use white lithium grease in a spray can and hit most moving parts. I will also grease rubber bushings, sway bar end links, etc.

I always wondered about the compatability of grease and oil on rubber compounds like mounts and bushings. I've heard some negative reports about oil but nothing on grease. Anyone have any good info? Is it detergent related?
