:us:I have shift indicator problems on a 2005 Explorer. I am not sure if I need a cable with the whole assembly or just the cable with the red indicator. I don't have another car so I don't want to pull my dash apart until I have the correct part. The last 8 #s of my vin are 5UA25179.

Is the arrow just pointing to the wrong letter? If so, I'm pretty sure that's something that can be adjusted. Somebody else can probably chime in though.

There is an adjustment on the cable on the transmission end.

In this video, the selector moves to each gear, just slightly off.
I was happy when I found this video because it was an easy fix

However, my '05 wasn't acting the same. The selector didn't move in sequence with the shifter. Almost never lands in park, some times stays on reverse while it's actually in drive. I can move the shifter up and down and have the selector actually stay in place.

Went under the dash to inspect this piece and found it intact.

Sometimes on mine, can't get it out of park.

Haven't spent anymore time looking into it, but it's annoying for sure.
