It would nice to see a headlamp be made with the following features
*Glass like OEM
*I'm not a big fan of projectors for this vehicle as their look really doesn't fit the face of this generation explorer. So I would go with maintaining the current non-clear look of the headlight but adding some kind of outline bar along the edges that is yellow colored like the oem bulbs. Maybe some other minor visual tweaks - more of an evolution of the current design.
Thinking along the lines of other vehicle models that have had extended production runs like the Mercedes G or original VW Bug and some Porches. These vehicle evolved their lights to keep current but still nicely match the old style face of the model.
Projectors definitely aren’t for everyone, but I love the look. The original fluted lenses defeat the purpose of projectors since they diffuse the light, so I had to go with clear. But I agree that the non clear headlights are best if you want to stay stock. You could always use led strips on the inside of the oem headlight along the edges, but since the lens if fluted, it’ll have to be pressed right up to the headlight lens or else the light will diffuse.
