I have been thinking about racing seats for a long time, but I am cheap. So I'm going to start thinking about another Idea that I've had. My cousin does upolstry and would be able to help me redo my seats with whatever material I buy and could add some new pad and stuff and perhaps even put the heated seat kit that I saw in the summit catalog. It seems like it would be great to have a new look and heater and everything and keep the track and reclining functions especially since my wife has to move it all the way to the front, I can't just bolt it to the floor, and I wouldn't have to fab anything to make a new seat fit. My only concern is that I wanted to put in a 5-point seat belt at some point. So, what does the frame look like? How much fabrication would be involved in leaving a hole in the seat shoulder high to pull the 5-point belt through? I have a first generation.

bump?

Has anyone torn one of these seats apart? Does anyone have one lying in their shed and want to tear one apart? I guess it can be done, one way or another and when I get ready to do it, I'll just cut it open and see what I find, but I would like to plan it a little better than that so that I don't have to go too long without a seat. Worse case scenario, I'll do the passenger side first to figure it out and I can drive it without that seat. My wife will love it if I stick her in the back. (If you read this dear, I am just kidding, we can take your car.)
