I have a 2002 XLT 4x4 4.0L with about 128,000 miles and the timing chain rattle between 2,200 and 2,800 RPM started about 6 weeks ago. I pulled the right cam cover last week and the right cam chain and guides seem to be okay for now. I am preparing to replace all of the front timing chain components (main chain, guide & tensioner; balance shaft chain, guide & tensioner; left cassette; both cam chain tensioners; and upper and lower oil pan gaskets). I’m also going to replace the two short (hard to get to) heater hoses at the firewall, while I have the intake off, plus replace spark plugs & wires, and of course oil and coolant.

Are there any other components that I should consider replacing while I have the intake and the whole front of the engine disassembled (such as thermostat, water pump, hoses, etc.)?
