What if there is no Explorers?

Probably a Ranger on 20s laying frame.

Truck: newer F-150

SUV: 4runner

Car: EVO or a Mustang

There is way to many cars out there that I like, finding the one for me would be difficult. :D

That would mean my plans in my sig are worthless lol, so there are only two vehicles I would look at right now.

1) I'd have an 03' Cobra w/ a swapped live axle, KB blower, built Lentech tranny, LT's and full exhaust etc....good enough for a mid 9 street legal car.

2) I'd have to have a truck also so....I'd honestly have to say an 03' 2500 Ram 4X4 Laramie with the h/o Cummins and 6 speed manual along with a full Banks kit and propane injection.

:) ;)

I always thought that the cherokee looked pretty tough. I did look at one('89 for 3,500) before i bought my X. It was in great shape, but had too many problems. The pass side window didnt work (pwr), and a couple of other things that i didnt feel like fixing, so i passed.

Actually, if the Explorer never existed, 80% of the other similar SUVs wouldnt either ;)

The 'Splorer paved the way!

I don't think the explorer paved the way for anything other than Moms using SUV's to take their kids to school. Prior to the explorer in the early 90's there were several other SUV's Blazers, 4runners, Jeeps, lots of stuff came around before the explorer, I don't think the explorer has influenced the design of any SUV except maybe the expedition.

Yeah, SUV's have been around a long time. Longer then people think!

The Explorer just made them popular. ;)

But you can not deny that the Explorer caused many of these SUVs to be continued and their designs improved upon. If the Explorer did not make SUVs popular, I bet you the 4Runner wouldn't exist today, nor the Blazer.

80's 4runners were very popular, and they still run today can't say the same for 80's fords

Read your automotive history. The Explorer is constantly awarded the title of being the father of the modern midsized SUV. Its what made that type of vehicle so immensely popular, and started the whole SUV craze. Sure it wasn't the first, it was just the first to catch mainstream appreciation. Its VERY possible that if the Explorer never existed, an entirely different type of vehicle would be super popular, and that the Durangos, TrailBlazers, Pilots etc of the world would not even exist.

re: notachevy

ok, i believe i said this already but if you are going to bash the explorer (since you bashed ford, you bashed the ex) then you dont belong on this site. truthfully, i am from a chevy family and my first for sucked, but it also wasnt a ford truck. the explorer is the #1 selling SUV in america for a reason. and ever wonder why they say "built ford tough"? its because they will take a lickin and keep on tickin...thats more than i could say about my stepdads blazer or my buddies toyota and dodges (although the dodges are pretty tough). oh, and in case you didnt notice, very few of the many people on this website are soccer moms.

btw: did anybody else notice that "notachevy" has the same info and stance as "almostabronco"?...any correlation?

ok, 1...my spelling is excellent its my lack of typing skills.
2...my first ford..i had it right..my first ford was a contour.
3...you just insulted over 90% of people on this site..because soccer moms and sorority girls are not the only people that drive these things. about 1 in 20 vehicles i see on teh road is another explorer and guess what, most of the drivers are men. oh, and what about all the police edition explorers?
4...you have no idea what some of us have put our trucks through. i have done things with my ex that our old family blazer would have dropped a torque convertor at the thought of!
5...the 1st generation explorers (ya know, before IRS) and wit hthe old enginge are extremely reliable. we have a combined total of over 250,000 miles on our two and no engine troubles!
6...the tires, yeah that was firestione too buddy....and i would gladly put a set of them on my truck since my generation was before those problems.
7...if you would be a happy man without the explorer, then why are you on an explorer website?
and lastly, all you had to do is say youd drive a 4 runner, no problems...you had to go and bash our beloved suv which is outright disrespectful and rude. i am 19 and people say teenagers today are rude, try the @$$holes like you!

The only vehicles I owned were Ford Truck's(1945 Ford GPW (early GP(aka J@@P), 1950 F1(last year built), 1961 F100, 1984 F150, and a 89 Ranger 4x4 Xcab.

Then I meet my wife(Cheby fan, born and raised)
After that I owned a 72 Impala SS (POS, but was fast when it ran) a 76 full size Truck (POS) 2 different years of Cheby LUV's(foreign but still a POS), and a 76 Ponti Catalina Convert.
I couldn't keep tranny's in them, and engine's blew like firecrackers.
I only owned 1 Dodg@ in my life and that was a 1995 Stratus RT. It was great for the first 5K miles, then Mopar showed it's finest... 1 replaced turbo, 2 heads, 1 break caliper, and a seatbelt mount (final straw)...

ever since.. I've gone back to the BEST

FMCo.....

and, I've had 1/132 of the problems w/FMCo then of the rest....

(now, maybe I'm lucky or my FMCo vehicles, detected my blood color(Ford Blue) )

but I'll never buy anything but FMCo...

Just my 02...
and even if you don't like it... I don't care.....

But If FMCo never made an X

I'd be driving a F-150/250/350/Bronc/Bronc II/ Ranger X-cab.............................

OH..and I drive a 1st production 1995 Contour for a DD, that has 133,333 mi and is just now started ticking......

udmsvt, that was very well put. i dont think he has a right to be on this site if he doesnt like explorers and all he comes here to do is start trouble. we dont go to blazer or 4runner websites and talk smack do we ? I see a couple of women driving explorers, but yes, they are mostly men, my 91 might be going through some bad times, but i'd much rather have it over a blazer. up until 1999, we only put $600 into the engine, other than regular maintainance. thats a good 8-9 years worth of ford quality. im happy with my explorer.

thank you...its nice to find supporters at this fine hour (almost 2:30 am here in michigan). its like poeple go out of their way to insult other people..what is this world coming to? oh, and seeing as how "notachevy" and "almostabronco" are both logged on, we have 2 different peoblems at hand...but i would bet there is something going on there.

back to the main topic, well, you all knwo my answer...'03 50th anniv vette would be my car of choice, and an f250 superdutry would be my truck...black ex-cab 4x4 with a lift and some 35s....black.

Its probably some stoner kids with nothing better to do than insult people that have done nothing to them. especially 15,000 of them, actually its probably less than 2000 that actually use the site on a weekly basis. but still, how low of a life could you have to do something like that ?

i sell shoes. you would be suprised how low people can be.

I'd rather push my Explorer around than drive a Chebby or MOPAR. Hell I'd rather have my little Mazda GLC back than drive a MOPAR or Chebby.

Or as Powerstroke Owners say....

"I'd rather be stroked than rammed."
