The Eddie Bauer is a model of Explorer offered every year of the line, 1991-2002.
The Eddie Bauer version has two tone treatment, with a beige bottom half on all colors.
They basically are an upgraded XLT. The leather seats say Eddie Bauer on them, and most of the XLT options are satndard on an Eddie Bauer.
eddie bauer is a sort or sporting good store that makes its own eddition of the explorer. its basically a limited but instead of limited it says eddiebauer on the seats and it has special fender flares and running boards that are beige in color. it looks like this on the outside:
some upgrades it has are: leather interior, trip computer in center console, electronic ac, over head console, and embroidery(sp?) on the seats that say "eddie bauer"
yup... it supposed to be the luxury off road edition.... go figure.... but they arent anything more than different paint and supposedly high status symbols... (personally, i like the monochromatic paint color)
Judging from the pics, we don't have them in Australia. Mine being an XLT is very similar with the champaigne colour flares and running boards, but mine doesn't have the different colour duco on the lower half of the doors.
Different models years offer different options for Eddie Bauer trim.
On some years, you can get the Eddie Bauer trim without the 945A package which the XLT have them as an option too.
For the loaded one, you get besides the flares and the two-tone treatment and the striping. Some of the appearances are not available after 1998 such as the Eddie Bauer embroidery and the pin striping. Message center that tell you the fuel to empty, Average MPG, and so on.
Options available on Eddie Bauer models include Automatic Ride Control and a car phone. Not all years offer this.
For '95-'98s, you get the larger 16 inches wheels on some of the Eddie Bauer models. Afterwards, it was standard.
On the '98s and later, you get that neat redundant buttons on the steering wheels for the radio and climate controls.
The cargo rug in the back are reversible, meaning that one side is carpeting and the other is vinyl.
The running boards are different and larger.
So, Eddie Bauers have apprearance and functional features. It is a cross between the XLT and Limited. On some, you can get a free Eddie Bauer bag as well.
I read a while back that in Australia, I believe that you can get a ride control retrofitted to your Explorer as a dealer-installed option.
The ride control comes standard on all XLT and Limited models in Australia. It may be different to what you guys may get. In my Haynes manual, it describes damper adjustments and ride height. Mine only does the rear and only adjusts ride height for different loads maintaining a level car. I disconnected it after putting my lifted springs and Ranchos in. It did work quite well, but gave a very harsh ride giving the car a bad reputation.
Yep! Eddie Bauer has the two tone treatment and it also has leather seats with "Eddie Bauer" embroided onto the seatback, a trip computer, JBL sound system, and automatic climate control. Here's a pic of mine

Chris, running boards are optional, as mine doesn't have it. Also optional are: power sunroof, autodimming mirror with autolamp, cloth seats (mine has that ), CD changer, four-corner ride control system (at least for '95-'98) and rear auto leveling system ('99-'01), and a cell phone.
