what is rattling around in my 93 xlt

when i start my x, i hear a rattling noise under the hood, when i accelerate, it gets louder. i dont know if something is loose or what.

A rattle like that could be anything from a loose heat shield to bad valves/pushrods. I would start by poking around the engine (maybe with a stethoscope) to see if I could isolate where the noise seems to be coming from.
