light bulb for the ash tray?

Yup! It's the light for the ashtray.

I thought it might be but that doesnt make sense. Its under the console and the ashtry is another piece that sits on top. I cant imagine much light gets thru the little white plastic thing. Is it a special bulb mine, doesnt work I guess. Its got a blue thick plastic covering and then looks like bubbly goop inside. I guess I dont need it anyways. Can I use it as a power source? What switches it on?

There is a small lens in the ashtray insert that lets light in.

That bulb is controlled by the headlight and dash dimmer switches. It's a great power source to use to light up gauges or anything you want lit like the dash.
