what is the best way to go about trimming to fit 33's?

Matt, we're allowed to bait them now but hunting from your truck is still illegal. haha

Got a new (to me) bow this season. Still trying to find time to get that set up to my liking ("studying" right now).

Still happy I have 32s. I refuse to cut anything until I have 35s.

im running 4.10 gearing right now, but when i get my 33"s on, should i think about going to 4.30 or 4.56's or should i be good with my 4.10"s? this truck is still my daily driver, so im not sure what would be the best approach.

btw, the new eta on my warrior shackles according to ups tracking is now sept 15th. damn! that seems like an eternity from now! ill get the tires by friday and mount them up on the wheels and throw some pictures up of them when i can.

I have 33" tires on and kept the 4:10, not much of a diference in the transmission or accelleration. if i went to 35, then i might consider new gears. This being said, my spedometer is 5MPH off (low) at 70MPH, but that can be fixed with an xcal

With 33's you should have 4.56's with our Trac's to get the speedo corrected and take alot of stress off the drivetrain.

I want to regear my Trac to 4.56's but I'm waiting til I do my SAS, SOA because I don't wanna waste the money on the gears, install, etc. then have to do it over again with the straight axle.

Don't get me wrong, you're fine with 4.10's especially since your 2wd but your speedo will be off as well as your odometer and putting more strain on the drivetrain.

i think ill be running the new 33"s on my 4.10's and then save some pennies gradually and hopefully get some 4.56's some time around new years. cant wait to get all my pieces together, slap them on the rig and post some pics. thanks fellas.

I can definitely feel the difference from stock with my truck running 4.10s and 33s. The ratio is a little tall for the tires, but not terrible. The main issue that I have is that i have steel wheels and 10ply tires. That equals like an extra 100lbs of unsprung weight per corner. With alloy wheels and lighter tires I would fully expect a few mpg improvement, as well as acceleration and braking improvements.

Yep, I have the same weight issue with my wheels and tires. LONO you'll see what we're talking about when you get your setup done and drive for awhile, although your Trac is 2wd so you don't have the added weight of the front diff setup, transfer case, etc...

Steeper gears will help with turning all the added weight.

tires are in! goodyear duratrac 33" x 12.50" R15. got all four for about 650 bucks. i sold my 30"s for 400, so it wasnt too much of a hit on my pocket. the only thing that sucks is that my shackles wont be in for another week, so i wont be able to put them on. im going to get these puppies mounted today and be waiting patiently until the shackles come in.

can't wait to see them on...

Hey wait a minute, turn them there tires around !!!! LOL, I think you'll really like them when you're trailin'.

i knew you were going to say something about the white letters having to be facing out rebel! lol, i got some deciding to do, i like the letters out on sports cars and big body sedans, but i think i like the letters in on trucks that get beat up. ill have ti flip a coin.

thanks again to all you guys on the forum who have helped me out with all the great info. i didnt know anything about these explorers but knew i always wanted to get one and since i joined the forum, ive been able to get so much done. thanks fellas, im going to document the lift and the trimming for the next newbie that needs the info.

Whites facing in!

ditto, whites in..
:P

I think it'll look better then my black ST since your ST is white and you have black wheels. JMO. I agree that if your rock crawlin' or extreme trailin' where your sidewalls get scuffed up then raised whites in. I don't know, try photochopping my wheels and tires on your Trac so you can see what they'll look like.

its a festivus miracle!right before the sun goes down, guess what shows up at my door? my warrior #153 shackles and they look glorious! tires are in, shackles are in, torsion bolts pb blasted, i cant wait to get this project going tomorrow.

hey rebel, i think im keeping the white letter in, i dont really keep my truck clean, so it will just look messy all the time. the next time i end up with a big body sedan or a low rider, ill turn the letters out for sure!

All right man, throw them shackles on. I''m heading out to finish putting my truck together. Will take some photos when I'm done.

LONO, hopefully it's not too late but don't get the stick on weight that mount on the inside , they won't clear the calipers. Also, I know Cali. is strick but I had to get my wheels/tires balanced four times in two weeks because they used the new "steel" lip weights. The bead protecter on the tires kept kicking them off, they had to find some now outlawed "led" weights and I haven't had any issues since. The steel weights just wouldn't bend to the curve of the wheel and the clip wasn't long enough to grab the lip under the bead protector. Just a heads up.
