between a message center out of a 1995 Explorer, and one for a 2000? I know that probably the wiring is different, but could I use the one from a 1995 in a 2000 (I'll be wiring it myself) ?

Thanks,
Ted

the message center buttons have only one part number 95-01
but there are different part numbers for 95, 96, 97, 98-01 for the module.
Unfortunately that is all I can tell you. Other than the part number I do not know what other differances may exist.

What the hell is a message center?

they are the same except fot the VFD(the display) color and backlight color.

They use a different sensor for the vehicle speed, unfortunately. A signal that your truck doesn't put out. Without the vehicle speed the message center is useless. I believe the change happened in 98, but I could be wrong.

It is a place where messages can be found :D

Some Explorers came with these computers that displayed things like, MPG's, distance till empty tank, some other stuff. I dont have one so I cant say for sure.
