I thought by reading other threads that the wrench needed was 32mm...the nut was smaller than that

when I took my wheel off to replace the bearing, the bolt was hand loose. I put my bearing on anyway, but had to use a pair of pliers to tighten it because I didnt have a socket that fit.

the wobble seems mostly gone. I would like to tighten it up correctly, and also check the other side too.

any one know the size?

Is your tuck 2wd or 4wd? The 4x4 is the 32mm... at least I know mine is.

If you have the 4x4 or AWD the nut on the front hub/axle measures 1.238" across the flats making the 1 1/4" socket the correct choice. 32mm is too sloppy. The correct torque on the axle hub nut is 157 to 213 lb/ft. The wheel nuts are 100 lb/ft.

The nut has a captured conical washer and is a prevailing torque nut. Ford cautions you to always replace the nut and never reuse it. It's $17 at Ford parts counter.

I have 2 wheel drive. I think its a smaller socket...am I right?
I had something that looked like a nut cover with tabs, a nut and then a flat washer. right now I am questioning whether the mechanic put everything back in when they did my rotors. I did reuse the washer.

it is running smooth on the side I took everything apart. I really need to check the other side, since he didnt get the right side tight

thanks., I did a search and missed that thread. but then again, I was searching for spindle bearing repalcement, not speciifcally the nut size
