Wow how did that penny get in there ;)

Seems to me that the valve body kind of had that looks and color to it, but i may be wrong.

JoschC

Explain if you would.

The valve body is aluminum. Do you mean this may be part of the valve body gasket?

I am experiencing hard 1-2 shifts and sometimes hunting between gears that does not get better as it warms up. I've done the vaccuum mod fix (and determined this was not faulty at the time but put a new one in anyway).

Please be more specific with your post if you would.

Thanks!

I don't know a thing about the auto transmissions. But i just remember seeing a valve body along with some other things on a work bench at the mechanics shop that built mine a couple of years ago.

I wish i could help you out a little bit more.

Looks like a piece of a band. Probably the intermediate band since you are experiencing 1-2 shift problems. Time for a overhaul.

WOW, i was way off, sorry to lead you in the wrong direction!!

sounds like a good time to pull the X into the garage and drop the tranny..

poop.

Wow, that looks complicated as hell! Better call Opera House.

uhh i hope that never happens to me..

There's a picture of the intermediate band there with 1/2 of if missing.

What would cause this? Would an overtightening of the adjustment screw cause this problem?

Could be a bad adjustment, how many miles? Are the apply levers and struts in good shape? I would check the levers and adjuster to make sure.

I would replace the thrust washers while you have it open along with the band.

You asked about drums in another post, may want to call a local rebuild shop or two and see if they have any used drums laying around.

Good Luck- I just finished reassembling my trans to the OD drum- watch those thrust washers- they move when you dont want them to. I still need to align the pump before I can finish up. But its pretty straight forward assembly.

I'm going to smear wheel bearing grease or vaseline on the parts to hold them together then put it all on the tranny.

I need to order the drum first and get another band-looks like a single wrap to me.

I believe the thrust washers came with the rebuild kit i have.

Joe
