I just noticed I have an antifreeze leak under my hood. It's leaking from a plastic part, over by the A/C,by the passengers side firewall, that has like three hoses connected to it, and a vacuum activated solenoid of some sort. If anyone can tell me what this is...it would be greatly appreciated. I want to get a new one but don't know what to ask for.

I don't have such a part on my '93, but I'm guessing it's a heater control valve - its function is to keep coolant from flowing through the heater core until the engine warms up.

Go to the auto parts store and ask for a heater control valve for your Ex - you'll then know if it's the right part without actually purchasing it.

Hey,
I had the same problem on my 95 back when I bought it 2 years ago.
That is the heat regulator thing. The vaccuum opens and closes a valve as you adjust the temp selector in the truckby pushing and pulling on the diaphram, but that diaphram breaks down, thus causing a leak. Go to ford and tell them you nered the part and I think it was like $20 if I remember right (whichI usually don't) It was not hard to replace, just be sure to catch the coolant that leaks out.

yup, should be the heater control valve. You should be able to get the part from Ford and replace it yourself.

Thanks a lot for all of your help. I appreciate it.
