I was replacing the multifunction swith in my x yesterday and noticed a wire hanging down can and tell me what it goes to i have looked ever where and cant find where it goes

I've no clue, just by looking at it. Can you check in your maintenance manual (Haynes, Chilton's) wiring diagrams and see where it originates in your harness? Perhaps that will give you a clue.
 






That looks like a spare fuse holder for one of those glass-type cylindrical fuses.
 






Look at the switch where you put the key, next to it is a green (at least on my 97 is green) ring with a notch in it, that clips in there, it's to tell the truck that the key is in the ignition

well i didn't see a green ring and i looked in my Chilton book and could not find it here is a another picture that show more

the wire is black and the turns to black with a red or pink line
it sucks being part color blind

Yeah, but now your dinger goes off all the time when the door is open and the key is in there! :) I pulled mine out for that reason...
 






if u pull it off, it goes off whether the key is in the ignition or not.... At least mine does that
 






Mine only goes off when the key is on. If the key is off it doesn't ding. But, mine is a '95...
