The pictured box was left behind on my X from the police.....I have always wondered what it is...I imagine it is some sort of flasher/relay....but how would I test it?

Your probably right about the relay, try power to one side, and a light bulb on the other, either it will go one, or maybe flash, is there an amp rating on it?

I would say its a fused realy. If you put some power to the fuse, you may hear it click, not sure what that one does, whether its just an on/off relay or a blinker or what...You could then put some power to one of the larger terminals and a load on the other side, and see if it blinks or anything. Let us know!

Like this...I think...

Could that be what makes the headlights flash back and forth (right - left- right - left)

It has been on there for 11 years, and I took it off for the first time today, and guess what? It has the descriptions indented right on it in tiny letters that I could not see while it was still mounted...

Ryan was close...

1. Load
2. Ground
3. Switch
4. Batt

Ok, now is part two of my question....If I hookup power to the Batt lead, ground the ground, and hookup something like fogs to the load, what gets hooked to the switch one? Switched 12V+ right?

BTW: the fuse is 20A

Thanks guys....:D

Forgot the pic..

You are correct Crankcase. You will need to hook up a switched 12v+ to the switch terminal.

It appears to be a simple selenoid, prolly used to control the "gumball machines".
