What kind of fluid goes in my 5 speed trans.

I have been searching the forum and can't find an answer. I'm sure it here but I can't find it.

I would like to change the fluid at work tomorrow since I will have access to a lift.

They use ATF. Can't remember what flavor. Think I put generic Walmart stuff in last time I changed it.

yes the mazda 5 speed or m5od or whatever the heck they call it these days gets ATF, no need to use Mercon V or anything like that get the cheapo cheapo ATF... it only needs atf to lube and cool... and all ATF's do that! they do it well! only the early 5 speeds (likw 86-90) got gear lube ..... even then I put ATF in them instead

Thanks for the info. I did this on the street in front of the house in less then an hour. Hardest part was making and configuring my hose and syringe set-up to refill. It worked pretty darn good.
