Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have a 2000 W reg Explorer but don't know what model it is. How can I tell whether its the XLT or Northface? Also, my nearside suspension seems lower than the offside and makes the vehicle drive like a boat. Does anyone have any ideas please on what may be causing this as the garage say there is nothing wrong with the shockers.
Thanks

Hi, if it was a Northface model then you will have Northface badges on the rear and sides, they also had slightly different interior with front seats that had adjustable headrests, the XLT seats have a back and headrest that are all one unit (if that makes sense).

As for the leaning it may be a broken spring or soft tyre? I am sure someone who knows more will be along shortly to offer more advise :)

The lower n/s is known as the gangster lean. It is usually the springs on that side sagged a bit more from the weight of the fuel tank. But it is still a good idea to check the mount of both the ends of the spring particularily the rear shackle as these can corrode badly. Also check the operation of the ARC, active ride control, the rear air shocks. You can do this by making sure all the windows are closed then turn the ignition off and get out and close all doors then 2 of you stand on the rear bumper. The compressor should kick in. I think jcasey did some diagnostics on his ARC so search for his thread.
If it is just the springs you could order a set of used o/s from justin at explorerpartsuk of chrisquelch on here may have a set. :D

Oh and welcome to the fold Pete

hi
All those years ago, I bought a brand new northface on a V plate and it didnt have the northface badges on it straight from ford !
My current W plate one does.

I solved my kebab sag (too many kebab's :D) by swapping the springs over. Solved the sag a treat

north face

Hi all I have one small question. I have a North face 2000 I am trying to find the air adjustable shocks but no one can tell me if they have them as they done have North Face in the books. I need to know if it will be the same shocks as the XLT or XL
Cheers
