What rear end do I have?

Hello,

I am wondering what rear end I have (not my rear end but the one on my explorer). The metal tag on the rear axle differential cover reads as follows:

S628A
73 883A19

Any help would be appreciated.

Not too sure about the axle tag, since mine was gone when I got the truck, but you can check the door sticker for the axle code and then go here http://www.users.qwest.net/~ntrpriz/main.htm and look on the axle code chart. There's plenty of other cool Explorer specs there too.

If your asking about gearing I can't help you, but the rearend itself is an 8.8 inch

I looked it up on my computer at work and found that you have a 3.73 ratio in your rear end
