I'm about to install a new Pioneer head unit to replace the stock stereo in my 2003 Explorer. I've been reading and reading and reading about putting a resistor in to the sub power-on lead for the factory amp and I'm a bit confused about what value to use. So far I have read about people using 1500, 2.3k, 4.7k and even 5.6k ohm resistors to do the job. I also read a post about a guy that put a 1.0k in and it didn't help and a 3.3k in and the sub amp wouldn't turn on.
My question then is which one to use! I picked up some 2.2k 1/4 Watt ones from Radio Shack last night but now I'm not sure if they will work or not.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give!
