is it 4x4? if so raise her up a bit, put some big tires on it.

How much money and what kind of use would you like to get out of it?

You could dump a couple grand and have a street truck with a sound system that could bounce quarters off the roof.

You could have someone fab up a killer custom 10" suspension system and throw some 36's on it and go mud bogging.

You could transplant a 5.0 crate motor into it, drop some 4.56 gears in the rear end, throw some slicks on it and have one heck of a sleeper truck.

There are plenty of options limited only by how much money you want to throw at it. ;)

she is a 4X4 and i wanted to do a little lift with bigger tires cause i plan on wheeling her. as she sits right now shes got 183,997 on the clock. anything i should be worried about? and does anyone know where i could get a body lift for it?

184k mileage isn't too bad if the truck was well cared for. If it wasn't maintained worth a damn, then you'll be replacing a lot of stuff soon. There isn't really a list of things that go wrong by mileage, but it's like every other vehicle...the older it gets and the more mileage it has increases the potential for things breaking.

I imagine that being in Pennsylvania, you guys have road salt and what not to deal with in the winter, and if that truck has seen 16 salt filled winters, then you might want to give the underside a thorough inspection and see if you find anything loose or worn out.
I'm in the desert and my 94 was sold here in New Mexico so there's zero rust on it. As such, I'm not really an "expert" on what kind of havoc salt can play on these trucks.

At any rate, I think you should consider a suspension lift instead of a body lift. Body lifts are cheaper to purchase but usually far more labor intensive to actually install and they can introduce other complications, especially on vehicles with automatics. You can buy 2" lift shackles from Copperhead Fabrication for $39.99 + shipping and grab a 2" spacer lift from Daystar for around $129. There are other options, like the F150 coil seats for the front, but they're harder to find unless you can track down someone parting out a 92 - 96 2WD F150 or feel like roaming a junkyard. Conversely, Skyjack sells a 2" kit for $225 or so that includes 2" lift coils for the front and add-a-leaf for the rear. There are other options for lifts, but a spacer / shackle lift is usually one of the cheaper ones.

i just checked it and theres not much flaking rust. there is surface rust on most parts of the frame. and everythings DRY :) from what i know, it was a hunting/winter vehicle all of its life, being the low miles. and ive seen some first gens with terrible winter damage around here.

Ok here's the deal, the trannys are weak in these trucks so be prepared, not if but when will it fail.If you go mudding it will fail sooner then later.

As you can see from my signature I also have a 94 and spent a week in Moab with it.I intend to spend another week next April.Have you serviced the transfer case and differentials yet, flushed the transmission and coolant.

If you want it to last you need to do the maintenance items first before lifting it and putting tires on.Not much fun to spend $1500 doing tires and lift then have it crap out due to lack of maintenance. All you need are 31's and a 2" lift and you will be amazed at what you can do if you know how to drive it offroad.

Get stupid and flail on it and get broke quick. But make sure it's solid and not a rust box or anything will be a waste of money.:D

to my knowledge everything was flushed or changed before i bought the truck. its not a DD so not much wear, i assume. i havent done anything to the truck cause it sits MOST of the time. eventually it will be my DD though :D

can anyone give me a reccomendation of what 2 inch lift kit to get? and wheels and tire size? thanks :D

if it were my ex i would just shoot her and get it over with. the years spent in prison would be worth the peace and quiet.

Before a lift and tires, you’ll need to know what gears you have. Check the drivers door sticker for the axle code. I’m guessing it’ll be a D4. (3.73 limited slip)

If you don’t have 3.73s, or 4.10s I wouldn’t add bigger tires with the A4LD transmission.

I’d also put a large transmission cooler on it.

Holy :censored: dies anybody check post dates before answering? This thread died 9 years ago and the owner hasn't been seen since last year.

I usually do, but missed it this time. My sincerest apologies for offending you so terribly. I do hope you’ll recover.

I am just tired of seeing old posts pop back up. It's annoying. Your sarcasm does not go unnoticed however.

I want to see the original posters of these old posts chime back in and give updates on stuff years later haha. That would be fun

relax it is not worth having a stroke

Just look before you leap, please... Dredging up old posts makes it harder to weed through them to find people who need help in this decade. If you want to know more about these posts, instead of re-opening them, how about messaging the thread owner if they are still around?
