I keep going back and forth on what I want to do for my new HU. I used to have a pioneer flip-out screen but that along with my whole system got stolen ($2000 worth of equipment, which is my sub, sub amp, and flip-out) so I get to start a new project on my Explorer. Here's the two things I was thinking of either doing another flip-out or doing a 10"-13" molded tv in the dash with the HU molded to the top of the ceiling.

I'm thinking of going with the molded screen cause it's more custom and will fit the theme of my car a little more. However, I do like the flip-out and options that the flip-outs come with.

Do you have a good alarm? I'd look into a nice alarm w/ lcd good range and good features first. If you already did this just ignore my post :)

I have an alarm already that I'm going to install this upcoming week. After my last few broken windows on break in attempts and finally a successfull attempt, I've already thought of ways to keep them from coming back

I'm already sold on it, I just need to know where to get one at. But lets get back at the question at hand, anyone have any thoughts as to what option i should take (flip out tv, or molded)?

I say molded. It looks factory and would be harder to steal. What kind of alarm did you get?

Anyone know how to hook up one of those electric-fence units up to the door handles? The kind they had on Myth-Busters. THAT would be a good anti-theft system! Soon as the alarm goes off. Door handles get charged! Alarm stops, Door handles are ok to touch. Not enough amps to kill, but enough to hurt! Anyway, allow me to switch out of psycho-mode a sec. I'd go with molded-in. It just looks cool.

you can't mold a screen larger than 10.4" or so regular aspect into the stock hu location without having it look ridiculous (unless you redo the whole dash as well)

a 13" will simply look odd in a bad way

I would either go with a 9" widescreen or just go with the clarion 755 unit.

Well I decide I'm going to go with a 10" touch screen mold in cause I'll be going with a car computer. However, I wont have it done until mid May, cause I live down by school and don't have a garage to work out of. So I'll have to wait until I get out and move into my new house or stay with my family for awhile and knock it out there. I'll post pics of the install and install process.

I just had this bad-boy put in. I kept the stock audio steering wheel controls with the use of a PAC SWI-X module.
