What size is the nut for the ball hitch?

I have a stock 01 sport. I have the original (or I think it is the original) ball hitch on the back. I don't toe anything so it really isn't any use to me and it is all rusted. I wanted just to remove the ball hitch. The only problem is I can't get enough force on it with a crescent wrench. I have a 700ft lb impact gun however. I just need to know the size of the nut so i can get the correct socket. I have a 32MM and it is smaller than that but it is bigger than the other sockets in my regular set.

usually they are 1_1/8 or 1_1/2 inch. Yours should be 1_1/8

It took a 4 foot cheater bar and 2 full grown men to get one off my neighbors ranger, and even then we still had to really get into it. Good luck with yours, hopefully your impact does the trick.

Why don't you measure it with a tape measure? Measure across the flats. I'm thinking around 1 1/4" to 1 5/16".

FWIW, 32mm is just a hair larger than 1_1/4 inches. But yes, the easiest thing to do would be just to use a tape measure. Just saying though, the two most common sizes for nuts on ball hitches are 1_1/8 and 1_1/2. I could almost guarantee you are going to have a 1_1/8 inch hitch. Soak liberally for a couple days with penetrating oil if you want to stand a chance at getting it off. You are going to need a pipe wrench and someone to hold it as soon as you get that nut broke loose.
