I need to replace my u-joints. The cost will be alot cheaper if I take them out first then give them to the shop. What sockets will I need to use? I know to mark the flanges to align back.

Thanks

Yep, and you might think about making it a 1/2 inch drive socket too. Those buggars and locktighted in. Had to build a gadget to hold the shaft from turning to get them loose. My cheapie impact wrench would not loosen them. Cheers.

make sure you use a grease pencil or something to reference the driveshaft so you install it the same way it was installed previously.

Ok the 12mm 12 point took care of the rear, now what size socket for the front driveshaft? looks to be a 12 point also, but it's smaller in size. The front part is connected by star screws. What size are they?
Thanks

I just had my front shaft out the other day (Torx 30 at the diff)

8mm 12 point for the transfer case end of the front drive shaft.
get 1/4 drive with a 1/4 breaker bar it will fit between the bolt and the transfer case.
Good luck turn the shaft to where you can get top the bolts lock 4x4 in remove and turn to the next and do the same.
Good luck
