Trying to tap the crankshaft, ran puller through the hole messed up the threads
 






Yeah, did that once on an SHO. Had to order in a threadchaser to fix it.

Which engine in your Explorer?

Worst case, either measure the bolt with a micrometer or take the bolt to a good hardware store as they usually have bolt and thread gauges on a display board.

It’s a 3.5l and yeah I think ima have to do just that. Is this a big deal or am I good just rethreading?

If the threadchaser doesn't work to clean up the threads and allow the bolt to thread in and get torqued properly, then it's a really, really big deal.

BTW, IIRC that bolt is a TTY, one time use.
