Polk, Infinity are the best if you don't want to spend alot of money. Infinity Reference's sound great for those ballin on a budget. If you wanna drop some cash, go with Infinity Kappa or Alpine Type R. I put the Type R's all the way around my truck and I was skeptical at first (b/c I was a tried and true Kappa fan)... But i have to say, the Type R's sound AMAZING! They even sounded good off of the factory deck (which was pushing 6.5" components up front and 6x8's in the rear). Their highs are more crystalline and defined than the kappas... i couldn't believe it.

I'm in the process of installing 4 audiobahn 6x8" plates. These babies have outboard crossovers and can take my 100x4 Watts RMS. My only gripe is that they are quite deep (Big @$$ magnent to handle the power). Really great and you can get em at thezeb.com for under 100. Better sounding than any oval shape speaker. THey are just compnents premounted on a plate. If you want components look for the DEI 3055 components (Around $200). They come with a 5x7-6x8 adapter plate. Good luck.

I just got these speakers last week from Crutchfield: Polk GXR57 5X7/6X8. On sale for $59.99/pair. They sound really good and you get the wiring harnesses free. I would recommend them.

As long as we`re talking speakers, a buddy is selling some pioneers that i think he said were 6x8 (4 of them)
he insists they will make my stock stereo sound better. I think so too, but am dubious.

I know a new stereo will make a difference for sure, but would I notice anything by swapping speakers?

p.s. i would get a stereo but I know that`s when the thieves will hit. I want an alarm first. i use a discman with a cassette adapter right now-

djstatix from what i hear focal is the way to go... if you have about a g to spend just on your speaker for the door that is... personally i dont think thats worth payin for, but they are supposed to be the best. so i hear

well, ive got 2 jl w3's for for subs and i would like to make up the mid freq that is kinda missing.. full range door speaker i guess would not be the best choice i think, mainly my mids and highs im looking for. but good quality is a must to match my subs. ive got a mtx 4202 for the doors that i would like to use to its potential.

for the deck though, i would love got get the 6 disk in dash changer factory model that is designed for my truck. if it has line outs in the back that is.
