I'm the biggest Orion fan they have ever had. When I saw the specs for the new XTRpro I knew that this sub would be the sub for my Q-Logic Box that is similar to the Thunderform in the rear quarterpanel of the Explorer. I was wrong. When I read the specs I forgot to add the speaker basket's displacement and if you havent' seen the magnet on the XTRpro 10d sub it's a dual stacked magnet. The damn thing barely fit, though when I did get it all installed I soon realized that attempts were in vain. The sub bottomed out on deep bass notes which is a sign of improper enclosure space.

So now I have come to you all to find out what you all think is the best sub. If you have heard a great sub in there, what was it? If you know of a great high end small enclosure subwoofer that has a mounting depth of less than 4.85" what is it?

I appreciate any help with this one!

J L audio

by no means is my truck a competition sound system, but I have it set up very very nice, the q-logic box I have in the rear quarter is the J L audio, and it's not even the better lineup that they offer,
I'm very happy with this sub,I had a planet audio xover mounted in the jack section in the other quarter, and that unit has a remote volume dial for the sub, this is mounted up front.
gaining control of the sub made all the difference in the world.

What model is your JL Audio sub?

Jayson

William probably has the 10W0. I put a 10W6 in my Stealthbox. That's their top of the line SQ sub. It fit (barely), but I've had no problems with it, and it sounds awesome - very clean and musical. I'm driving it with about 360 watts of Xtant power.

how did you get a W6 to fit, i thought the stealthboxes/Qlogic boxes maxed out with a W1

We got it to fit. Even the JL rep couldn't believe that we got a W6 in the Stealthbox. There was just enough room. The W3 definitely won't fit though.

So did you put the w6 in a q-logic box or the jl custom box?? I thought that the w6 was bigger than the w3. So what will sound good and fit back there? A w0, w1, and w6?? What do you guys think of the MTX 6000 back there? Do you like the way it sounds or not?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Just by looking at the dimensions, the MTX 6000 is over 5 inches deep and will not fit in the Q-Logic enclosure.

Which is better for the Q-Logic enclosure, the 10W1 or 10W0? What is the difference? If one of them has a DVC option, I'll use that one.

Jayson

I just bought the q-logic box, that has a RF sub in it. I got it off of ebay, or I do not kjow how it sounds yet. I will be installing it this weekend.

It might fit but does the box have the proper volume for the sub. A box can change the sound of a sub drastically.

not sure ?

I'm not sure what model was put in ?,all I can say is that it sounds very good.the installer only uses this brand sub.

Rob, I put the W6 in a JL Stealthbox after taking out the W0 that came with it. The magnet on the W3 is just a little deeper than the one on the W6, so that's why it doesn't fit.

Jayson, the W1 is a better sub than the W0, and according to JL, optimized for shallow enclosures, so I'd say that is your best bet. Of course, you may find that you like the sound of the W0 better than the W1, so listen to them both before you make a decision. They are both SVC.

Keith, the box has the correct volume for the W6.

im using a Kicker solo baric in a Q-logic, umm, it sucks. what a waste of money. Im a JL man, why did i buy the kicker anyway?

Yes, unfortunately the Kicker Solobaric 10" subwoofer will not work in .65cuft of air space. Though it is a small box subwoofer, it's not that small. I feel for you!

I'm going to go and take a listen to the 10W1-4 tomorrow or on Sunday. The 10W0-4 requires 5.37" of mounting depth which I believe puts the sub hitting the back panel of the Q-Logic enclosure. So, based on that info it looks like I have no choice but to purchase the 10W1-4. With 125 watts RMS I think I'll purchase an XTR low power amplifier, like the XTR375, or maybe even a Cobalt amp, yikes! All I want is bass that won't bottom out, which is what my problem was with my Orion XTRpro in the beginning.
