Today it was -23C in the morning. Wife's van started with some difficulty, but it started. Hit the estart on my 2002 Eddie Bauer and it cranked but didn't start. Got in and with the key it started right up but there were 2 loud pings. Moved my wifes van and when I came back I could hear a running water sound. Got in and put it in reverse and nothing. Got out to investigate the running water sound and found that it had puked all of the tranny fluid in the drive
When we dragged it out of the drive with a friends truck we found what had made the ping sound. It was a piece of cast metal that looks like it came off the very back of the transmission, poss the transfer case? It appears to have come from a ring that looks about 2 inches around, It looks like it would have been cast in to the outside of the transmission or transfer case, I didn't see anything else hanging down. I haven't got underneath the truck yet as the house is up for sale and it happened 30 mins before the first viewing of the day (of course).
Anyone know if there is a cast ring at the back of the transfer case that would hold a hose or something on? I have a feeling this is going to be an expensive fix....I will try and post pics of the part that we picked up, but I'm currently at work and photobucket is blocked
