Ok so I was driving around 1 day bumping to Mushroomhead (sounds great w/ subs:D ) at a moderate volume when I turned my car off while leaving my stereo on like I always do. When I turned on my car again and the stereo kicked on I didn't hear the subs booming, only very little bass. I checked everything on my headunit, but that was all ok so when I got home I looked back at the subs and I noticed my right sub not moving. Immediately I thought it was wiring so I checked and double checked all the wiring and its all perfect. Then I pushed down on the cone of the sub and I noticed that it began to hit when I pushed down on it. I had a friend at circuit city check my amp in case something was wrong with it, and he said it was fine and that he had never seen anything like this before. So what is wrong w/ my sub? I know its not blown so is the sub deffective? Thanx for all your help.

sounds like some wiring blew on the sub itself or in the box.

chech the box wiring and check the wiring from the point u attatch the wires to the sub itself to where they go..hard to explain just look it all over

I checked EVERY wire. All wires from sub teminals to the cone are good, all wires from sub terminals to terminal cup are good, all wires from terminal cup to amp are good too. Thanks for your replies. Keep um comin!

do u get any sound out of it at all? it sounds like u blew it up...over extended it and now the driver itsself is shot

hmm it sounds like when u turned the car on or off it got a power surge that will nuke subs easily a surge destroyed my power acoustic DVC one of the coils just blew out so when u listend it was all scratchy and didnt make any kind of deep bass try to hook the sub up to something thats not low pass try to see if u get trebble out when mine was blown it would run trebble but no bass

That is one long sentance!

If you have a multimeter try checking to see if there is voltage coming to the sub. Just put the meter leads on the wires at the sub and see. There may also be a loose electrical connection somewhere. That has happened to me before.

Snocross - I checked today and power is gettign to the sub so its not a wiring problem.

mhn3773 - I get NO sound out it at all. I know what a blown subs sounds like, and this one doesn't have those "symptoms". The sub puts out no sound but when i push the sub's cone down it begins to play.

Thanks For the Replies

sounds to me like the tinsel lead to the voice coil is messed up or the vc itself
