I have a 1995 EB V6 OHV Green/Tan 280K miles with the gray interior and here is what is wrong below. My wife wants me to sell it or give it away. I have a 2001 Expedition 5.4 EB 115K miles that needs Trans work, but still runs strong and a 1998 EB SOHC 133K miles that is in great shape but needs new front ball joints. All are paid in full and I owe nothing. Noting the economy and problems in the future I am wondering if I should keep the 1995 and use my tax money to rebuild it to new or like new then store it in case of emergency or get rid of it.

I was thinking of selling it for $1500, but she says that is a rip off.

The car being a 1995 can be turned into Aircheck Texas, and a certificate given for $3500 towards the purchase of a new car at any dealer ship within a specific list of vehicles yet, I am not in the market for a new car.

The bad:
1. The truck has about 280K miles and is leaking from every gasket now and it needs to be torn down to the short block and every seal replaced.
2. The motor still runs strong and does not burn oil it leaks more than it burns.
3. The Trans needs a rebuild kit as it is starting to take time to switch in to reverse and drive I rebuilt the trans about 130k ago.
4. The drive shaft needs to have the U joints replaced.
5. The front suspension needs to be replaced.
6. Interior carpet is bad and needs to be replaced.
7. The windows don't work anymore except the driver’s side.
8. Needs a new front window.
9. Needs minor paint work where I repaired a rust spot on the top now just primer.

The good:
1. I have the front suspension kit to fix the suspension paid $250 for that.
2. I have the Engine rebuild gaskets paid $100 for that.
3. The water pump is life time warranty.
4. The spark plug wires are lifetime
5. The pads are lifetime front and rear.
6. The alternator is lifetime
7. The AC pump condenser is lifetime.
8. The radiator is new.
9. The battery is new with 3 year warranty.
10. It has a new fuel pump and fuel filter.
11. I have the U-joints to replace.
12. I have all the bearings for the wheels.
13. I also have new tires on the truck as well.

Now I have tools and a shop available to do the work on the truck. Sadly none 1995 of the parts will work on the 1998 so I can't cross over the many parts that are under life time warranty. Maybe the sparkplug wires and the brake pads.

there fixed it for you!

I love this new car credit, crush the old one, finance a new one! Yeah right you get $3500 off my ass, thats just added to whatever you are looking at
$1500 for a 95 that needs that much work is a rip off, its worth about $500

I vote KEEP IT! LOL but I am nuts

The state gives you the voucher. So you work the deal with the Stealership get your best price then slap them with the voucher state pays the dealer. So the state is putting up the cash for the car not the dealer. Yet if the dealer knows about the voucher first they will rip ya.

I do want a good offroad/mudding truck though. :salute:

Gen II exporer can make an awesome weekend warrior or wild ass trail rig, just time and $$$

I am just against any incentives put in place to get you out of your old car and to go finance something in an effort to save failing private industries.... yes even in Texas :)
I would think the peoples republic of Texas would want oil burning cars and trucks on the road LOL
