ok i have a 91 XLT 4dr 4X4, auto, with 6in lift and 35in Xterrains. I just put the tires on less than 1000 miles ago and i love them, the problem is the rest of the truck now needs a bunch of upgrades and i am haveing a tuff time trying to decide what to do with it.

First is the engine, which i know is toast, but runs fine in town and with no load on it. I have an engine on a stand ready for rering and a cam. I am going to go with the bigger of the comp cams #49-422-8, i may also clean up the heads with some mild port and cleanup work. any other suggestions on the engine would be great, i don't plan on much but i have already made the bracket for a 3.8 eaton charger so that may find its way on once the rest of the truck is ready for it.

Next is the transmission, It has 190,000 miles on it and yes it is original and no i have had 0 problems with it and i tow cars with it all the time. I am thinking that with that kind of mileage i should have it gone through so i don't really break it and have to spend a ton of money on it to fix it. Are there any tricks to beef it up while its apart or just get quality parts and replace whats worn, or should i leave it alone till it dies even though i don't want to screw with it after i get the engine back in?

Gears and lockers, It has 3.73's and the LSD that is just about worn out, I am thinking about 4.56's but maybe 4.88's, I need to be able to get on the highway and drive back to new jersey without being stuck doing 55 and i would also like decent power down low, what do you have and how does it do? And since i am in there would you lock the front or rear first since i won't have the money for both?

Other than that i plan on makeing some extended radius arms while the engine is out and i should have a fun truck on my hands. I am open for suggestions.

Thanx
Jon

Since 91, the A4lD's have had some upgrades. I'd get a torque converter with brazed fins also. If I was getting a selectable, and could only get one, I'd get the front locked up.
