hey guys iv posted before about doing a 5.0 5 speed 4x4 swap well im wondering what would be the better route to go its a 4.0 5 speed 2wd at the moment well I want 4x4 so should I just do the 4x4 swap and keep the v6 I want to be able to have fun in the mud like everyone else but I wanna keep at least 18mpg on the highway because I get 22mpg right now but I also like the idea of awd its a 2door sport 98 if that helps any but I was thinking the 4.0 would be better because I wont have to swap motors do wiring etc if I do the 302 it will be a mild 302 I just want your thoughts im new to the suv would I mostly deal with trans ams so your 2 cents is needed

I have had both the v6 and v8 explorers the v6 models can be fun you just have to set them up right, the v8 dose have mor power but it all comes down to what you prefer.

Surprisingly there not a huge difference in mileage between the v6 & V8 on hi way. So really it depends on if you want a 4wd v6 that can go anywhere or the AWD V8 with more power.

Hell, why stop there, drop the V8 in and 4x4 from a v6. Then you'd have the best of booth worlds.

Well I'm thinking of keeping the v6 and just doing the 4x4 swap can anyone give me a part number on the t case I should use idk if I can use the eletric t case with my 5speed I don't understand 4x4 to the max but I have fmc dealer to use as a guide

I have had both and I prefer the v8, more power and a bit more mpg.
