The Mountaineer I just bought has a crack in the power steering resovior that causes a small leak. Couple-several drips an hour. The long term plan is to either find a good one for cheap to replace it or make one from scratch. To get it home from Colorado I am looking to use an epoxy or glue. Anyone know what epoxy or glue I should use?

Thanks,

Dan

I know that they make a special epoxy for repairig gas tanks and for repairing battery cases, just wondering what the correct one is for repairing this reservior.

some jb weld or maybe something like Permatex Plastic Weld

power steering fluid isn't as harsh as fuel, so something like that should be sufficient.

Or, depending on where exactly the hole is and how big it is, just find some rubber and clamp it down with a big hose clamp?

replace it with one from the salvage yard

Congrats on the purchase, truck looks hot.

Quick set 2 part general purpose epoxy should be good, important to have it clean and keep it oil free while it cures.

Thanks & thanks for the pointers. I know that when it comes to plastics some epoxys work better on certain types of plastics. I was mainly looking to see if anyone had specific experience with the plastic that the reservior is made of.

Jim had mentioned to my friend that picked it up for me that he was having trouble finding a replacement stock reservior. I can see the possibility of converting to a hydroboost system in the future so making my own reservior in likely in my future.

Thanks for the replies,

Dan

No pick 'n pull yards around? They reservoirs are a dime a dozen around here...

The are a fair few U-pulls around here. I have been watching the Ex 5.0's in them too (the Early Bronco crowd use allot of stuff off of them). They are usually pretty well picked over.

Worst case I can pull the one off my 96 Ex and take it with me when I go to pick the Mounty up. Mainly I am looking for a quick/temporary fix until I get it home.
