What transfer case?????

My dad just gave me a 1994 explorer that has been in the family for quite a while.It is 2 wheel drive right now but I want to convert it 4X4.I have all the front end stuff and have a lead on the trans.I want a manual transfercase.Which one should I be looking for and what do they come in besides explorers?

You are looking for a BW1354 manual t-case. They can be found in all first gen explorers, and they can be had from rangers and bII's as well, I'm just not sure of the years.

I wouldnt bother looking in a BII as 99% of them are the 1350(which you can use but will need to modify the front driveshaft, I'm running one for now) But be prepared to do some searching because they arent the easiest to find.

I talked to a guy today that said he can get me a manual 1354 for around $350.00.Does that sound about right?I thought it was a little high because I got the complete dana 35 TTB front end with manual locking hubs for $250.00

Yea that is kinda pricey but If its already pulled then I guess thats about right. I'd try calling around some more also.

I got really lucky and got one for $19x from a yard near Hisperia.. They wanted $250 but all I had with me with $19x and I was broke down (broke the chain in the xfer case) and they gave it to me for what I had in my walet.

Soo.. $250 is more of a price i'm used to seeing.. BUT you can get a better idea by trying www.car-part.com and see what other yards are asking.

if for some reason you cant find a good manual TC i have a BW1354 Electronic TC with the front drive shaft for $125 came out of an explorer under 100K miles, comes with the motor.
