what transmission will fit

we have a 2002 mecury mountaineer that is awd with the 4.0 v6 what year transmissions will fit it.I have almost 300000 mile on mine and it is starting to act up if you take off really fast...thanks Dan

You probally have the 5r55w...the 5r55s will fit just make sure what ever you buy is from a 4x4 ive done wasted $1000 trying to cut corners..as of controlling it im hopeing our ecu will work fine someone else will hopefully chime in or when im done mine this weekend hopefully pending on hurricane ill let you know...where i went wrong was i bought a 5r55s out of a mustang...well the tail end is thiner then the 4x4 version also the cases are diffrent for v6 and v8....i got qouted at $1600 for a remanufactered at advance auto with a $400 core charge they give u like a a couple month warrenty and torque converter
