I have xenon blue bulbs in the headlights now
but they are 80w/100w and they have been acting up lately..probably cuz the load is to much..

what type of headlights do you guys have?

i like the xenon bulbs, hate to downgrade my bulb wattage, but i need to...also where did you get them at?

thanks,
ryan

I've got the PIAA 9007 superwhites and I'm very happy with them.

I also have the PIAA 9007 Superwhites. They are great.

For those of you with the Piaa 9007's, can you tell much difference in them compared to stock bulbs? Especially in reguards to light output.

Thanks....

I certainly can. Not a HUGE difference (due to the bad lens design on the Explorer) but definitely noticable. My PIAA 1500 driving lights make a bigger difference than the PIAA 9007 bulbs though.

PIAA 9007 also. yes, i can tell a difference. very happy with them.

Actually what difference do you see?

Has any of you replaced one bulb with Piaa and left the other stock to actually compare?

Thanks....

I have PIAA 9007. You can notice the difference. When you look at the light directly, you won't notice a lot but it's a bit whiter. But when you're driving it, you'll notice the light threw to the ground is a lot whiter than the regular halogen bulb. It's not brighter in any means, but it's whiter, that means you can see things a little clearer down the road. In high beam...oh man, it's awesome! The only downside for these bulbs is the price. It's expensive!

There's an alternative though, go to www.autotoys.com. And search for Eurolite 9007 DOT legal headlights. My mom's Town & Country has a pair and they only costs $25. It's white...whiter than PIAA 9007. I'd recommand them.

I bought mine through www.carpartsonsale.com. I just looked and they have the 9004 (for your '93) for $55.09 plus shipping ($6.34 to me in VA). The price is listed as $57.39, but if you click on "Harry the Haggler" on the checkout page, you'll get the additional discount. The 9007 for the later Explorers run $58.17 (after the discount) plus shipping. Search for part number 19604 for the 9004's, and 19607 for the 9007's.

Al,
the difference is exactly what 96explorereddiebauer said... much whiter, etc etc. i didnt compare stock to piaa side by side but the stock lights look yellowish at nite.
i do think the price of these lights is too high, but after reading everything about them and actually having them on my truck i have no regrets.

Hey what wattage are all you guys using? I was warned that getting too high of a wattage will melt the wiring or something like that. There any truth to that?

The PIAA 9007 is rated at factory specified wattage. But there are possibilites that they may melt the wiring.

I have the Hella 9007 bulbs and they're more white than stock. I really can't tell brightness wise though.

For those who have had the Hella ones and now have the PIAA's, how do those compare? Any brighter?

Harry

I've never heard of the PIAA bulbs melting any wiring, but I have read about the cheap higher wattage replacements burning wire. I don't think you'll have any wire trouble with the PIAAs.

Cool thanks for clearing that up.

Oh...oops. I meant if you put a higher wattage bulb, there'll be a possibility that the bulbs will melt the wiring. The PIAA's don't melt the wires but the high wattage bulbs will. Sorry.

Thats what i figured you meant.

Talk about quick responses...Glad im not the only one reading this stuff all day at work.

I've got the PIAA 9007 superwhites and they kick ass!!!

high wattage...

Hey guys,
just wanted to share this with you. I am currently running 130w/110w in my headlights and they have been working awesome. Nothing has melted or burned out. There is definitly a difference in brightness. One downside though I think is that the bulbs are drawing jsut a bit too much power and as a result my stock fog lights arent as bright as before anymore...I havent been able to confirm this though. If anybody has more info on this, please let me know.
Thanx
